What is Myofascial Dry Cupping?
16 Mar 2026
Healing
Myofascial dry cupping is a manual therapy technique often combined with massage to help reduce muscle soreness, improve mobility, and support soft tissue recovery. It involves placing suction cups on the skin to create negative pressure, gently lifting the skin and fascia away from the underlying muscles. This decompression effect helps release muscle tightness, reduce trigger points, and ease restrictions within the fascia — the connective tissue that surrounds muscles and joints. It is commonly used for back and neck pain, shoulder tightness, plantar fasciitis, IT band syndrome, tension headaches, postural imbalances, and recovery after intense activity.
The treatment is non-invasive and should not be painful. Most people feel a deep stretch or mild pulling sensation during the session. Cupping aims to improve tissue mobility, increase blood flow and lymphatic drainage, reduce pain and inflammation, and enhance range of motion. Temporary circular marks or mild bruising can appear where the cups were placed, but these are usually painless and fade within a few days.

What is Light Force Therapy?
9 Mar 2026
Healing
Light Force Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses red and near-infrared laser light to support the body’s natural healing processes. The light penetrates deep into the skin, reaching muscles, nerves, and joints, where it is absorbed by the mitochondria inside cells to help stimulate repair and reduce inflammation. It is commonly used for conditions such as tendonitis, bursitis, muscle strains, joint injuries including sprains and arthritis, post-surgery recovery, and wound healing, helping to ease pain, reduce stiffness, and speed up recovery.
Treatment begins with a consultation to assess your symptoms and ensure it is appropriate for you. During the session, you will be comfortably positioned and both you and the practitioner will wear protective eyewear. A handheld laser device is moved gently over the treatment area for around 5 to 15 minutes. Most patients feel little to no discomfort, although some notice a mild warming sensation. The treatment is quick, safe, and designed to complement your wider rehabilitation plan.

What Is Dry Needling and Acupuncture?
2 Mar 2026
Healing
Dry needling and acupuncture both use fine needles, but they are based on different approaches and offer different benefits. Dry needling is rooted in Western medicine and focuses on releasing tight muscles, improving mobility, and reducing pain linked to musculoskeletal issues. It can help reduce muscle tension, improve flexibility, support injury recovery, and ease nerve-related discomfort. Mild soreness for 24 to 48 hours after treatment is common, similar to post-exercise stiffness, and staying hydrated with gentle movement can help ease this.
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practice designed to restore balance within the body by stimulating specific points linked to energy flow, or Qi. It is often used to reduce stress and anxiety, relieve chronic pain and headaches, support digestion and immune health, and improve sleep and overall wellbeing. After treatment, many people feel deeply relaxed or energised, with some noticing immediate improvements while others benefit from a course of sessions for longer-lasting results.

Achilles Tendinopathy: How Chiropractic & Sports Therapy Can Help
23 Feb 2026
Achilles tendinopathy is a common cause of pain and stiffness at the back of the heel or lower calf. It often develops when the Achilles tendon is overloaded, for example through increased running, walking, hill work, or sudden changes in activity. Symptoms are usually worse first thing in the morning or after exercise and may include stiffness, tenderness, or a thickened feeling in the tendon. Although it’s often called tendonitis, most cases are not caused by inflammation but by repeated strain over time.
At LSRC, treatment focuses on helping the tendon recover while addressing the factors that caused the problem in the first place. Chiropractic care can improve movement and alignment in the foot, ankle, and lower limb, reducing unnecessary strain on the tendon. Sports therapy supports recovery through tailored strengthening exercises, load management, and a gradual return to activity. With the right approach and consistency, most people can reduce pain, improve function, and return to the activities they enjoy.

Plantar Fasciitis – What is it? And how we can help treat you
16 Feb 2026
Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of heel and foot pain, often felt first thing in the morning or after long periods on your feet. It occurs when the plantar fascia, a strong band of tissue along the sole of the foot, becomes irritated or overloaded. Contributing factors can include prolonged standing or running, poor footwear, tight calf muscles, or foot posture.
At LSRC, we take a whole body approach to treatment. Our chiropractors assess how your feet, ankles, knees, hips, and spine work together to identify underlying movement or alignment issues, while our sports therapists focus on rehabilitation through soft tissue therapy, stretching, strengthening, and load management. By combining both approaches, we aim to relieve pain, support healing, and help you return to comfortable movement with confidence.

Abi Takes on HYROX Manchester for Macmillan Cancer Support 💚
28 Jan 2026
Trips
Last week, our brilliant sports therapist Abi took on HYROX Manchester, completing one of the toughest fitness races out there, all in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.
For anyone unfamiliar, HYROX is a global indoor fitness race that combines running with functional workout stations. Competitors complete eight 1km runs, each followed by a demanding workout such as sled pushes, rowing, wall balls, lunges, and burpees. It’s a true test of strength, endurance, and mental grit and Abi smashed it.
Not only did she complete the event, but Abi also raised an incredible £1,000+ for Macmillan Cancer Support. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing generosity of her friends, family, and patients, and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated or shared their support.
Abi went above and beyond by running an in-clinic fundraiser in the lead-up to the event, offering free massages and a prize hamper to help boost donations, a perfect example of her generosity and commitment to the cause.
We’re incredibly proud of Abi for taking on such a huge challenge and supporting such an important charity. An outstanding effort for an amazing cause well done, Abi!

Chiropractors Ski
21 Jan 2026
Trips
Spending a few days skiing with a chiropractic group is a simple but rewarding way to combine time on the mountain with professional learning. The days are spent skiing together, enjoying the fresh air and beautiful mountain views.
In the evenings, the group gathers for Continuing Professional Development sessions. After a full day on the slopes, there are lots of funny stories to tell. From hysterical wipeouts, to getting completely lost and having to hike some kilometers while fully kitted, and some serious après ski for some. The discussions have people sharing ideas, asking questions, and reflecting on their work. The relaxed setting makes it easier to stay engaged and absorb new information.
By the end of the trip, it feels less like an event and more like time well spent, skiing, learning, and connecting in a way that’s unforced and genuinely enjoyable.

The Path to Progress: Why Healing is a Journey
19 Jan 2026
Healing
When it comes to chiropractic care, healing rarely happens overnight. Much like the “Path to Progress” chart from BackTalk Systems, recovery is often a staged process. Initial care focuses on relieving pain and addressing the immediate issue, before shifting toward restoring proper function and mobility. The final stage is about maintaining results and preventing problems from returning, ensuring lasting improvements to your health.
Preventative care plays a vital role in this journey. Just as regular dental check-ups keep your teeth healthy, ongoing chiropractic visits can protect your spine, improve mobility, and reduce the risk of future issues. By staying consistent and understanding that healing is a gradual process, you give your body the best chance to stay strong, healthy, and resilient.
